Gather the Group: A Holiday Weekend at the Lake

The holidays have a way of scattering people. Different cities, different schedules, a group text that never quite lands on a date. Everyone wants to be together. Somebody just has to make it easy. What if everyone came to the same place, and nobody had to host?

Three Cabins, One Quiet Shoreline

Southwind Lake Cabins is three lake cabins at Bourbon State Fishing Lake in Uniontown, Kansas. Book them together and your group gets something rare: a place of your own, at the water, with room for everyone to spread out.

Each household can close its own door at night. In the morning, you all wake up to the same lake, the same birdsong, and the same fog drifting over the water. In between, you gather however you like.

A Holiday Without the Hosting Stress

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's. These are the weekends that matter most, and they are often the ones that wear one person out. Someone cleans for a week. Someone cooks for twenty. Everyone ends up tired. A lake weekend flips that. You step out of the usual routine and into something quieter. Bring the games, the music, the dish everyone asks for. Start a new tradition that belongs to your people, in a place that belongs to no one's to do list.

The best holiday memories are rarely about the table.
They are about the walk afterward, the long talks, the laughing that goes late.
A lake gives you room for all of it.

Slow Mornings, Long Evenings

Days at the lake run on their own clock. Mornings begin with the sunrise and the sound of birds filling the air. Walk down to the water and you may find fog rolling just above the surface. Pour something warm and let the day take its time.

When night falls, the sky takes over. Our dark Kansas sky is made for lying back together and looking up, kids and grandparents included. A few winter meteor showers fall right around the holidays, which is a good reason to stay outside a little longer.

If you have never watched a family go quiet at the same moment because the sky showed them something, you are in for a gift.

Easy to Reach From Wherever Your People Are

Your group may be coming from different cities, and the lake is within reach of all of them. Kansas City is about 2 hours away. Lawrence is about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Springfield, Missouri is about 2 hours and Wichita is about 2 hours. That makes it easy to meet in the middle. Caravan down together, or let everyone arrive on their own time and gather at the shore by dinner.

Who Gathers Here

Families who want one real holiday together instead of three rushed ones. Reunions with cousins who have not been in the same place in years. Friends who have turned a yearly trip into a tradition. A birthday that deserves more than a restaurant table. Couples traveling with another couple, or three.

If there is a group of people you love and a weekend you want to spend with them, this is the place.

Plan It Early

Holiday weekends are popular, and getting everyone to agree on dates takes time. The easiest path is to pick your weekend first, then reserve the cabins you need while the dates are still open. Think Thanksgiving weekend, the week of Christmas, or a New Year's getaway to start the year slowly.

Pick the weekend. Send the link. Let everyone start counting down.

Our three lake cabins are waiting, and the lake has room for all of you.
